Wilkinson is a family business and I relish the opportunity to get involved in the local community and supporting the company’s charity fund raising.
Wilkinsons is committed to fundraising and making a difference to charities and the communities we serve. From fundraising to volunteering, our team members really excel themselves. Some of the charities we’ve supported in the past are Children’s Hospice, Anthony Nolan and Age UK. In addition our community initiatives – ‘Local Stars’, ‘Wilko Heroes’ and ‘Helping Hands’ give us the opportunity to help some amazing people and organisations through donations and sponsorship.
Local StarsThrough our Local Stars scheme we help talented, gifted and caring people overcome the barriers that might be preventing them from achieving their life goals. Local Stars is designed to help these people excel against the odds, and sees us sponsoring up to 30 people from across the UK every year.
Helping HandsOur Helping Hands scheme lets us support community projects that change and improve the lives of people living and working in our local communities.
Wilko HeroesWhere a team member undertakes fundraising in support of our charity of the year, we’ll match the amount they’ve raised (maximum amount and conditions apply).
At Wilkinsons, we continue to demonstrate how we can increase our business impact while also significantly reducing our environmental impact. We’ve been developing our CSR strategy and have outlined clear commitments about what we want to achieve. And we’ve put corporate policies in place to support this relating to the environment, energy, community, procurement, ethical practice, engagement and diversity. To help us achieve all this, we’ve set objectives and targets and aligned them with the BRC – ‘Better Retailing Climate’. This social responsibility initiative hasn’t gone unnoticed. In 2010, Wilkinsons were awarded the Carbon Trust Standard to certify that we have measured, managed and reduced our carbon emissions.
